Let's talk about Judaism...
Who are we as Jews and Jewish families? How can we better support each other as who we really are, and not who someone else thinks we ought to be?
How do we make Jewish teachings relevant to us on more than a weekly or annual basis?
Jewish, interfaith, spiritual - we are all Jewish and...
Join me in building a Judaism that works for as many as want it.
This Judaism should be for Jewish people and still feel:
- Welcoming, warm, and a place where family and home feel good.
- Authentic - we should feel connected to the past of Judaism in a way that enriches our lives and challenges us to be better people.
- Spiritual - a path to develop and experience greater senses of meaning and connection in our lives.
Projects on this website:
- a Jewish spirituality from a practical, everyday, "work in our lives" perspective - starting with a practical spiritual journal;
- a Jewish family that supports Judaism on the one hand, and reflects the reality of Jewish families today, namely that all of us are "Jewish" and "something else" - whether that something else is an affiliation, or a family from and/or incorporating multiple traditions - the North American experience of Judaism is different now, and change is good!
- Jewish learning - as broadly defined as you like.
- Real Religion - thoughts about how poorly represented religion is in American society today - let's come together to assert what religion is really about.
- Death Ride Rabbi - since completing the Death Ride in July 2010, my informal chronicle of all things outdoors worth sharing.
- Our Talmud - An ongoing conversation of the daily page, the daf yomi, in the classical reading cycle of the Talmud - progressive takes on our ancient traditions.
Let's talk - tell your stories here, and let's make Judaism work!
